corkhoarder: Compass Box Whisky Co. | Great King St.
We often overlook blended whisky, but they do not deserve the position which they are regarded in. Blended traditionally meant that it was composed of multiple sub-par batches and thrown together for something potable. Today, companies such as Compass Box are taking pride in the craft of blending and creating beautiful, balanced and complex whiskies. Extracting only the best qualities, and producing a very desirable product. Much like the most sought after and prized wines; Opus One, Screaming Eagle, Scarecrow, Hundred Acre, etc…they’re all blends. Composed of only the best grapes sourced from the best vineyards, and produced into the best juice.
The new class of blended whiskies follow this mentality, and the product shines. Unlike the cult wines, many of these whiskies come with working wage price tags. Amazing value. Big fan.
