fabforgottennobility: Highland Park Loki
whiskyshelf: Auchentoshan Three Wood. I’m usually not a fan of Irish whiskey, it strikes me as hot and sharp. Auchentoshan’s the Scotch made in the style of Irish whiskey— triple distilled, suited to the taste of Irish immigrants in Scotland. The standard Auchentoshan is a dram I’ve had and not loved. Figured the three wood might work out those sharp edges a bit.
Smell is very Irish— a bit harsh. Though there is a hint of sweetness if you bury your nose in the glass. Taste is like well-aged Jameson that’s spent a bit of time in finer casks.
Definitely a different and pleasant experience. If you’re an Irish whiskey fan and looking to drop the “e” and move to Scotch whisky, this could be a good transition dram. Single malt Scotch. 7/10
